Leanna Butler

Violin/ Viola

Leanna Butler is an American violist in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Born in Springfield, Illinois, Leanna became immersed in music at a very young age. In 2023, she graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s of Music in Viola Performance under the tutelage of Daphne Gerling.

Throughout her budding career, Leanna has had  the privilege to play in the University of North Texas’ Symphony Orchestra under the baton of David Itkin.  She has been presented many paid performance opportunities with local groups including Dallas/Fort Worth's Serenata Strings and New Texas Sinfonia. She has also received an all-tuition paid scholarship through Brevard Music festival for an outstanding audition and a selective RA position. Post graduation, Leanna plans to return to school to pursue her Master’s degree while also auditioning for local Symphony Orchestra’s.

Though Leanna’s heart lies in playing, she also enjoys teaching. She has taught violin, viola, and piano to students ages 6-14. Her ultimate goal with teaching is to help her students appreciate music of all types while also learning to play for their enjoyment and personal enrichment. When not indulging in music, Leanna enjoys iced lattes, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
