Jiawen Tan is a trombonist and Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studies trombone with Timothy Anderson and orchestral conducting with Dr. Aik Khai Pung as his cognate area.

He is an active orchestral musician who has collaborated with numerous symphony orchestras and performed in opera productions with the Shanghai Opera House. He has also participated in masterclasses with many renowned trombonists and has served as a trombone instructor at various summer music camps and educational programs for primary and secondary school students throughout China.

Tan began his formal musical training at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree under the guidance of American trombonist Jay Hao. He later completed a Master of Music degree at the Tianjin Juilliard School, studying with Lee Allen.
