Meiling Lin
Piano
Meiling Lin's passion for piano began at the age of 6 in China, where she embarked on her musical journey. She started her professional piano career at the Primary School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing when she was 11 years old. Since then, Meiling has actively participated in numerous competitions, earning several prizes and awards. Her talent has taken her to perform in concerts both in the United
States and China.
In 2006, Meiling was recommended for admission to the Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music, further enriching her musical education. Two years later, she received a full scholarship to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy. In 2012, Meiling's exceptional abilities led her to Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she received another full scholarship. Throughout her musical journey, she has studied under esteemed mentors such as Aiping Jin, Nelms McKelvain, Haewon Song, and Dr. Brianna Matzke.
Meiling firmly believes that there is no single correct approach to piano teaching. She emphasizes the importance of sight-reading skills, fundamental music theory, proper body and hand postures, exposure to various musical genres, and the support of family members in order to excel in playing the piano. Learning an instrument may present challenges, but it also empowers students with the ability and confidence to overcome obstacles in other aspects of life. Meiling's ultimate goal is to guide her students in becoming the musicians and successful individuals they aspire to be.
